The Long Walk

This weekend was another blur of activity with my cousin’s (my only cousin!) rehearsal dinner and wedding.  We had a great time and enjoyed hanging out at the beautiful Huntington Hotel in Pasadena.

On Sunday morning, I worked my normal 8am-1pm shift at church and didn’t sit down once.  I raced home to see the end of the England/Italy Euro2012 Game where my poor British hubby could barely watch England lose in penalties.  Although he was devastated that England lost, we’ve enjoyed watching all the games as a family…and with friends…and with beer!

Later that afternoon, soccer dad suggested that we go on a family walk.  It sounded nice to talk a little walk around the neighborhood, but he had something else in mind.  He found a “little hike” close to our house on a “paved path.”  After donning our flip flops and leashing up the dogs we headed out in the car for a short drive to an area about 5 minutes away.  We set out on the path and suddenly the paved path became a sandy steep narrow path which resulted in me pulling our big lab up the hill.  He’s such a well trained good dog that he knows he’s supposed to walk next to me, but that doesn’t work well on a narrow slippery path.  This was not what I had envisioned, and I just may have expressed it a few times…lol.

After a lot a bit of complaining, we finally reached a paved road where this greeted us…

We really do live in an amazing place and it’s easy to go about my day and not appreciate its beauty.  I need to remember that God has given us a whole world out there that’s a lot bigger than whatever little problem I’m having that day.  No matter how long or frustrating the walk, there’s always light at the end.

In case you’re wondering, I used the App Photosynth to take this panoramic picture with my iPhone.
