I can’t believe it’s October already! Things have been a little crazy around here lately, but I guess that’s nothing new. Sometimes I feel like a dump truck pulls up next to me and unloads on my head. As my hubby reminds me, it’s my fault for loading myself up with too many extra activities, volunteer responsibilities and of course all our soccer stuff. I’m not good at saying no and I really enjoy all (ok, most!) of the things that I do.
This week I had a particularly nutty Monday starting with picking up BSG at school to take her to the doctor to get her knee and ankle looked at after a weekend soccer injury. Nothing super serious, but I wanted to get her checked out. She looks very sad about being taken out of school, doesn’t she?
After an hour and an ankle x-ray (nothing broken-phew!), she limped out looking like this…
After returning her to school I drove home to put away groceries and begin to clean up after the typical chaos of the weekend. About an hour later I got a phone call from the school nurse’s office from LSG asking to come pick her up. This is highly unusual and so I raced back over to school to discover a sad and headachy LSG. Of course it was my carpool day and I didn’t have time to go home and drop her off (although then she would have had to have been alone) so she slept in the car while we waited in the car for the other kids. Even more strange for my usually crazy kid!
It’s weird- she cut her finger badly at recess and so I thought her headache and upset tummy may have been from being in shock… but when I got her home she threw up all over the couch. Fun times! Fortunately after that, a little nap and some HGTV and snuggles with mom she was back to normal and bouncing all over the house by dinner time. Who knows what was wrong?!?
Kids… gotta love ’em! They are growing up so fast that I know these times will be gone before I know it. I want to savor every moment…even (or maybe especially) the limping and the barfing. Sniff sniff.
